Gilmore Girls Go To Maine!

My new women’s novel, Feathers in the Sand was inspired in part by Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, of that classic, best-ever TV show, Gilmore Girls.  Do you love the small town vibe in Stars Hollow? Read on  . . .
I didn’t discover TV’s Gilmore Girls until 2011 when I was going through treatments for cancer. A friend was astonished that I’d never watched the show and encouraged me to watch it. Five minutes in to that first episode and I was hooked! Those Stars Hollow characters got me through many a day when all I could do was lie on the sofa.
Flash forward to early 2021 when the characters were starting to make themselves known for my new novel, Feathers in the Sand (floating onto bookshelves 7/11/22).
I had their first names- Tess and Eva, but couldn’t decide on a last name for them. I googled “last names for book characters,” and OMG, went through pages and pages, trying them all out . . . Tess and Eva Johnson? No. Tess and Eva Ragmanowitcz? No way. On and on, until . . . I saw the name Gilmore and immediately flashed onto those other Gilmores, Lorelai and Rory!

Tess and Eva Gilmore. Perfection!

What better name for a mother-daughter duo who are having trouble connecting? Tess has always wanted a “Gilmore Girls” type of relationship with eleven-year-old Eva, but it hasn’t been happening. After making some changes in their lives, including a move three states away to Seahaven, Maine, she’s beginning to feeling closer to her daughter.
Throw in an appearance from Tess’s first love, new friends for Eva, mysterious bright-colored feathers that keep appearing in places where feathers aren’t usually seen, a family member’s unexpected cry for help, and a runaway cat . . . these Gilmore girls will need to work extra hard to find their way back to each other!

Seahaven Sunrise Series Book 1

Savor a breath of fresh salty air in this feel-good story about one woman’s journey to believe she deserves happiness.

Single mom Tess Gilmore has been moving so fast to keep her life together that she’s hardly had time to notice how unhappy she is, and how distant she’s become from Eva, her preteen daughter. An unexpected job opportunity offers a chance to leave her Connecticut home for Seahaven, the idyllic coastal Maine town where she spent her childhood summers.

With a reluctant Eva in tow, the two begin to carve out a new life in Seahaven, surrounded by colorful, quirky neighbors and soothing sea breezes. Within weeks, Eva begins to discover mysterious, brightly-colored feathers in surprising places.

As Tess and Eva are embraced by their new friends, they begin to work through their mother-daughter growing pains, but a surprising run-in with Tess’s first love, Luca, has the potential to re-ignite their interrupted romance . . . or destroy her new and improved relationship with Eva.

Will Tess have to choose between Luca and Eva? Where are those beautiful feathers coming from? And how can Tess redefine her life in a way that includes true happiness?

Perfect for fans of Gilmore Girls and loaded with relatable mother-daughter moments and family drama, Feathers in the Sand delivers a sweet escape to charming small-town Maine for a second chance at happiness.
